Q - What should we calm down about?

A - Most people would answer when we are tensed or when we have a lot of pressure on our shoulders.

Well that is correct but what about spiritually?

Verses

1 Thessalonians 5:6-8 says

6 So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be awake and sober. 7 For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk, get drunk at night. 8 But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet.

You may be thinking what does the 3 verses mean? Well I will explain verse by verse

(1 Thessalonians 5:6)

The verse says,”6 So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be awake and sober.”

What does it mean?

The verse means that we Christians should not be like others who are sleeping in the night but we Christians will be awake calming ourselves down and praying to our savior Jesus Christ  for we know His 2nd coming is near.

(1 Thessalonians 5:7)

The verse says,”7 For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk, get drunk at night.”

What does it mean?

The verse means that whoever sleeps will definitely sleep at night without being spiritually awake. And whoever sins, continues to sin in the dark without changing their ways or calling upon the Lord.

(1 Thessalonians 5:8)

The verse says,”8 But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet.

What does it mean?

It means that since we as Christians belong to the day so let us calm down and pray during the night and having and put on Faith (believing in God) and Love (loving everybody including our enemies) as our breast - plate. We will use Hope (trusting and believing in God) as our helmet!

My Message

So everybody remember that we should wear on the full armor of God and always rem

ember to calm down and pray even in the toughest times. This passage reminded that no secrets can be hidden from God. And since we belong to the day we should dine even in the darkest times.

God bless,

Joshua

  1. This is a great reminder to be sober at all times - calming ourselves in prayer at the feet of Jesus. This is really nice Joshua. Happy to know that you understand at such a young age the importance of being calm at the feet of Jesus through prayer ! Blessings from Nita mama
