Promises

When we want something which we like we would be begging our parents or at least that's what I do! Our parents would say I will promise to buy it for you on certain conditions. But I'm pretty sure that it does not always happen the way we like it!

But anyway, if we read Hebrews 6:13-20 we can see that God never fails to deliver his promises because He is our Eternal Father.

Verse 13 says, "When God made His promise to Abraham, God gave His word. There was no one greater than himself to promise by. So he pledged by making an appeal to himself." If we take a closer look at the verse we can see that God had said to Abraham that God will bless him with children. Even though Abraham was old he had two blessed Sons Ishmael (The son of Abraham and Hagar) & Isaac (The Son of Abraham and Sarah) Both of these children grew up to be very well known. Verse 14 and 15 support verse 13.

Verse 16 says, "People promise things by someone greater than themselves. Giving your word makes a promise certain. It puts an end to all arguing." This verse is basically trying to tell us that if we put word into our promises we basically can't break and we HAVE TO DO IT! But if we say a promise just for saying it it's basically counted not as a promise because we are not putting our word/heart into it. Verse 17 explains to us that whenever God makes a Promise to us He will put his Word into it so that we can achieve that promise.

Verse 18 basically says that God has done this so by 2 unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie. So then we know that we can fully trust God in his promise and we can work towards that promise knowing it will be fulfilled which may also be called as hope as we are now hoping for the Lord to fulfil the promise which he has given us. Verse 19 helps us to understand that this hope will help to be an anchor for our soul, firm and secure. The new hope that we have found will come into our inner sanctuary. Verse 20 then says that our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ will become the new High Priest in the order of Melchizedek.

I would like to conclude by saying that if God has given us any promises then we should work towards that knowing it will surely be fulfilled and that hope will lay as a foundation for us to work to that promise from God. So the next time God has given you a promise be sure to work to that and have hope in the Lord for it will surely help you.

 God Bless,

Joshua
